Switch Media adds Bitmovin Video Player to deliver seamless high-quality video to audiences on any screen

VIENNA, AUSTRIA — Bitmovin, a world leader in online video technology, announces that world-class video solution provider Switch Media, has added the Bitmovin Video Player to its MediaHQ product suite. The integration will enable Switch Media to offer content providers the ability to deliver the best quality video content to any network or device at scale and in record time-frames.

The first product to market using the Bitmovin Player technology is Freeview Australia’s Freeview FV Web. The product enables viewers across Australia to watch and plan all free-to-air TV, or access on-demand shows using their online browsers.

Switch Media offers a flexible suite of modular products for the delivery of premium content and live events, including the Olympics and Game of Thrones. It simplifies complicated manual tasks, so that anyone can deliver exceptional video effortlessly. Bitmovin’s Video Player has been integrated into the MediaHQ product suite as an underlying option to the Switch Media Universal Player. The integration will offer customers greater flexibility around support of high-quality video, resulting in faster time to market and a more seamless experience across a wider range of browsers and devices.

“In a world where video is everywhere, being able to create differentiated, high quality services is absolutely crucial for broadcasters, publishers and social media companies. Working with Bitmovin enables us to offer the best solution for each scenario, safe in the knowledge that the player our clients use will always support the latest streaming formats, devices and platforms. This way, we can strive to make the audience experience of the world class standard our clients expect,” said Luke Durham, CTO at Switch Media.

“With an average of 6.6 screens per home in Australia alone, the industry is far beyond needing to offer a great experience on a limited number of platforms. Instead, the default is to design video services that can run on all platforms at once,” said Stefan Lederer, CEO at Bitmovin. “The addition of our Video Player to Switch Media’s portfolio means that its customers will be able to launch video solutions that run on any platform, any network and any device.”
